The Book of Shadows Privacy & Security Policy
What does happen:
When you are just browsing the main site, nothing, not even hits are counted on the pages. It is totally and 100% anonymous. We keep no hit trackers, no cookies are set, no information is ever collected.
When you are in the catalog, there is a Session ID that the software assigns to your visit so that it may run the shopping basket for you. A Session ID Cookie will be stored in your browser program for a limited time. Ours are set for 90 minutes. The cookie contains NO personal information, it simply creates a unique relationship between your browser and your order - so that no other person will see your ordering information. Our Session ID cookies are long strings of random numbers and letters. After leaving the store, the cookie will automatically be deleted from your browser after approximately 90 minutes.
It will keep track of the number of items you look at. It does NOT tell us what items you looked at. We have the software set to only give the total number of items looked at and the total number of people visiting the site. If you should choose to leave without an order, we have no way of knowing who you were. We do NOT collect IP addresses, places you come from or any other information unless you have placed an order.
This site has some of the highest encryption available today. Only Darrell & I have the key. Only Darrell & I do the billing, no other employee ever sees your billing information. None of your information is stored in the unsecured area of the site ever. This holds true for the account setups also. Setting up an account is totally optional and only assists you in not having to retype your information each time you visit. Rest assured that any accounts set up are kept in the secured area of our server. Once your orders are printed for processing, the electronic copy is removed from even the secured area making sure that NO billing information is ever left on the server. We remove orders at least twice a day every day.
The Book of Shadows does not share information with any 3rd party in any way, manner, shape or form. We do not believe in purchasing information via mailing lists and will not sell information to mailing lists. NO ONE other than TBOS knows you even exist.
If you have opted for the newsletter, we may, at times, send you an email
with some specials or other information we think you may be interested it, but
you only need ask to be removed and you will never hear from us again.
